Since its occupation to Jerusalem, Israel continues imposing
unilateral measures aiming at changing the demographic and
geographic realities in the city along with taking aggressive
measures against the Palestinian citizens remaining there.
Israel continues taking these measures unilaterally with total
disregard to relevant international legitimacy resolutions and
contrary to Israeli verbal declarations on alleged intentions to
build mutual trust and confidence as a pre-requisite for making
peace.
The
Ministry of Information considers, with deep concern, the
current Israeli escalation to violence and unilateral actions in
occupied Jerusalem as a blatant violation to all international
legitimacy resolutions on occupied Jerusalem and considers that
as a direct ethnic cleansing with total disregard to the ongoing
US and international efforts to hold a peace conference to end
the conflict.
Building trust and confidence can never be through aggression,
house demolition, forced transfer to citizens or secret
excavations under holy shrines in the city, nor it can be
through changing and constructing close to these shrines as
Israel does in Jerusalem, where all international laws prohibit
the occupying power from making any of such unilateral actions.
The
US government and international community have to take immediate
actions to stop Israel from wasting the budding opportunity for
restarting the peace process in the region and encourage Israel,
instead, to take concrete actions for building trust and
confidence with the occupied Palestinians.
The
Ministry of Information calls on the UN, US government, Quartet
and international community to exert all efforts to pressure
Israel into adhering to the international laws and to work for
building confidence and making peace in the region.
